To think. To recollect. To remember. How wonderful it is to stroll up and down the hallways of the mind! While leafing through photographs of the heart, we can saunter back to days lived long ago. Giggles of laughter or the warmth of a sunny day can return to us in explosive dimensions… when a moment suspended in time … frozen… forever held captive… lives again… resurrected with a mere thought. How much our memories are a voyage of the soul. To that wondrous adventure of memory we are summoned by the Word of God. As believers we are called to embark on a journey of the Spirit to “zachar: to remember”. The King of Heaven calls us to remember His works… His wonders… His Name. We are instructed to never forget His law or His benefits. What a privilege and a joy to enter in to the dimension of the Divine! As the weight of daily life presses in upon us or the nagging discouragement of unfulfilled dreams wrests sleep from us in the nighttime hours, we are told to look up! Remember His promises. Remember that He never slumbers or sleeps. Remember that He alone gives us our daily bread and meets all of our needs. Remember all that He has done and all that He will do on our behalf because we are His very own. Yes, it is pleasant to cherish moments we've experienced "naturally" in days past , but blissful beyond measure to look " through" to Him... the Lord of Heaven in the midst of them. Come. Zachar. Remember… Taste and see that the LORD is, the LORD was, and the LORD always will be good!
